From 5 March 2026, Manchester Airport Terminal 1 was officially renamed Terminal 3 and now exclusively handles Ryanair flights. Your existing Fast Track booking — whether it says Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 — is still valid. Manchester Airport has confirmed that no cancellation or rebooking is required. On the day, follow signs for Terminal 3 Departures.
What Happened to Manchester Airport Terminal 1?
Manchester Airport Terminal 1 was officially renamed Terminal 3 on 5 March 2026. The physical building did not close — it was rebadged and reassigned. Terminal 3 now handles Ryanair flights exclusively, while Terminal 2 continues to serve all other airlines — EasyJet, Jet2, TUI, Emirates, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, and the majority of others.
Why the Rename Happened
The rename resolved a genuine passenger confusion that had been building since October 2025. At that point, Ryanair passengers began using the Terminal 1 Departures A entrance but walked through to the Terminal 3 departure lounge and gates. Calling the entrance “Terminal 1” while the lounge and gates were “Terminal 3” was confusing. The official rename on 5 March 2026 aligned the entrance name with the departure experience — passengers now enter via Terminal 3 Departures and remain in Terminal 3 from check-in to gate.

A Note on History – Terminal 1 Since 1962
Manchester Airport Terminal 1 opened in 1962 and served passengers for over six decades. The 2026 rename is not a demolition or decommissioning — the building continues to operate as the Ryanair departure terminal. It is simply that “Terminal 1” no longer appears on any signage, boarding passes, or booking systems.
Is Your Fast Track Booking Still Valid?
Yes — your existing Manchester Airport Fast Track booking is still valid regardless of whether it shows “Terminal 1” or “Terminal 3”. Manchester Airport has confirmed that passengers do not need to cancel or rebook their Fast Track or TimeSlot passes due to the terminal rename.
No Rebooking Required – Manchester Airport Confirmed
This is the most important reassurance for passengers who booked Fast Track before March 2026:
- ✅ Fast Track booking labelled “Terminal 1”: still valid — use the Terminal 3 Departures entrance
- ✅ Fast Track booking labelled “Terminal 3”: valid as normal
- ✅ No cancellation, no refund request, no rebook needed
- ✅ Existing parking bookings similarly auto-map to the new P1-P16 car park numbering

Where Is Fast Track in Manchester Airport Terminal 3?
Fast Track in Manchester Airport Terminal 3 is at Main Departures Level 5 — not in Area B. This is the same physical location it has always been in the former Terminal 1 building. The rename has not moved the security lanes.
Main Departures Level 5 – Not Area B
This is a critical practical detail:
- ✅ Fast Track is at Main Departures, Level 5 — follow overhead “Fast Track” signs from the Terminal 3 Departures entrance
- ❌ Fast Track is NOT in Area B of Terminal 3 — Area B contains only standard security lanes
- If you find yourself at Area B security, you are at the standard queue — go back and follow Main Departures signs
The same rules apply on arrival at the Fast Track lane: show your QR code and boarding pass. Standard security procedures still apply (liquids 100ml, coat removal etc). See our full guide to how Fast Track works.
Fast Track Hours and Service (Unchanged)
- Security Fast Track Terminal 3: 03:00–22:00 daily
- Security Fast Track Terminal 2: 03:00–22:00 daily
- Service: Same QR code process, same dedicated lane, same prices
- TimeSlot service: Also available at T3, 03:00–22:00
